Abstract

Oil and gas are the largest contributor of energy needs at this time. Offshore pipeline is one of the
modes of effective and efficient transportation in distributing oil and gas for energy needs. The oil
and gas industries are always faced with various risks, both in large or small scale. To solve these
problems, it needs good risk management in order to reduce the effects of such risks. Sumatra-
Java offshore transmission pipeline is one of pipes that serves to distribute gas from Sumatra to
Java. Based on field studies performed, the risk that occurs is a risk which related to the pipe's
condition. To manage the risks that will occur, so this research uses a Probabilistic FMEA method.
From the results of the risk analysis, then Risk Priority Number is obtained in five risks. They are
general metal loss amounted to 0.00076, mechanical overstress amounted to 0.00083, impact
amounted to 0.00070, over-pressurisation amounted to 0.00066 and fatigue amounted to 0.00063.
The improvement program that can be made for each of these risks are doing installation of grout
bag, anchor buoy, and using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) to change the corrective
maintenance that had been used.
