Abstract

Paddle Boat merupakan salah satu wahana transportasi wisata air unik
yang dioperasikan oleh pengguna dengan mengayuh pedal ini menjadi andalan
beberapa taman rekreasi di Indonesia. Paddle boat berbagi peran bersama wahana
transportasi air favorit lainnya misalnya, bumper boat, becak air, perahu wisata,
dan wahana lainnya yang sejenis. Paddle boat memiliki kelebihan dengan
karakteristik bentuk yang tidak terlalu besar dan tidak membutuhkan daya pacu
yang kencang, wahana ini mampu memanfaatkan cakupan areal air lebih hemat
dibandingkan perahu wisata yang membutuhkan areal keliling yang lebih besar
dan luas. Wahana ini juga menawarkan kapasitas penumpang yang lebih banyak
dibandingkan dengan bumper boat dan becak wisata.
Paddle boat menjadi ikon mula-mula Taman Rekreasi Sengkaling
Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Dari sejak berdirinya taman rekreasi tersebut
hingga sampai saat ini, paddle boat tetap menjadi salah satu aset komersial wisata
yang mendukung masyarakat menikmati keindahan alam taman ini. Sejalan
dengan tren modern dan perlombaan pembangunan baru maupun pembenahan
taman-taman rekreasi di seluruh Indonesia, Taman Rekreasi Sengkaling juga
secara perlahan membangun wahana air lainnya untuk mempertahankan daya
jualnya. Semakin berkembangnya penemuan-penemuan alternatif permainan air
lainnya, membuat daya tarik sektor paddle boat cukup tergerus. Hal ini
disebabkan dari wahana air lain yang jeli dan kreatif menawarkan sensasi baru,
sedangkan paddle boat yang ada terbatasi oleh fungsi lamanya serta tidak
mengalami pembaharuan mutu dari segi desain dan nilai kreasi sensasinya.
Menyikapi fenomena ini, perlu adanya pengembangan dan pembaharuan
untuk meningkatkan nilai jual (market value) paddle boat agar tetap menjadi
pilihan istimewa masyarakat. Untuk itu, peneliti memberikan gagasan melakukan
riset pengembangan desain paddle boat yang strategis untuk kebutuhan Taman
Rekreasi Sengkaling. Riset ini bertujuan menghasilkan desain paddle boat yang
memiliki perpaduan karakteristik khas paddle boat dengan karakteristik siklus
produk wisata yang up to date sesuai dengan era wisata air modern sehingga
masyarakat lebih nyaman, aman dan menemukan rasa baru dalam berwisata
paddle boat. Selain tujuan fungsional tersebut, riset juga mengkaji segi teknis
yang terkait dengan image desain, estetika, serta emotional design yang bertujuan
menghasilkan desain paddle boat khas Taman Rekreasi Sengkaling.
Keunggulan penelitian ini adalah mendukung suksesnya salah satu
program pembangunan alternatif wahana wisata Taman Rekreasi Sengkaling yang
ramah lingkungan dan bebas polusi untuk mempertahankan kealamian area alam
sekitar taman rekreasi. Disamping itu penelitian ini juga dimaksudkan untuk
menghasilkan paddle boat yang mampu dioperasikan dengan nyaman dan mampu
mengakomodir kebutuhan masyarakat pengguna dengan variasi ukuran, umur, dan
jenis kelamin (pria dan wanita) dengan image design yang mengkomunikasikan
nilai khas Taman Rekreasi Sengkaling dan diharapkan mampu meningkatkan
brand image Taman Rekreasi Sengkaling secara keseluruhan.

Paddle Boat is one of the unique water travel transport vehicle operated by
users with pedal is a mainstay of some of the recreation park in Indonesia. Paddle
boat rides share the role alongside other favorite water transport, for example,
bumper boats, water tricycles, boat tours, and a similar vehicle. Paddle boat has
advantages with characteristic shapes that are not too big and do not require
power runway fast, this vehicle is able to utilize the areal coverage of water more
efficient than requiring a boat tour around the area that is larger and wider. This
vehicle also offers more passenger capacity than the bumper boat and rickshaw
tours.
Paddle boat became an icon of the early Sengkaling Recreation Park
Malang, East Java. From the establishment of the recreation park until today,
paddle boat remains one of the commercial assets that support people travel to
enjoy the natural beauty of this park. In line with modern trends and new
construction and revamping race leisure parks throughout Indonesia, Recreation
Park Sengkaling also gradually build other water rides to keep selling power. The
continued development of the discoveries alternative other water games, make
attractiveness of the sector paddle boat quite eroded. This is due from other water
rides observant and creative offer new sensations, while the paddle boat that is
limited by the length function and did not experience the renewal of quality in
terms of design and value creation sensation.
Responding to this phenomenon, the need for development and reforms to
increase the selling value (market value) paddle boat to remain as a special
selection of the community. To that end, researchers gave the idea of doing
research to develop a strategic design for the paddle boat needs Sengkaling
Recreation Park. This research aims to produce a design that has a paddle boat
paddle boat blend of distinctive characteristics with the characteristics of the
tourism product cycles are up to date in accordance with the modern era of water
so that people travel more convenient, secure and discover new flavors in the tour
paddle boat. In addition to the functional purpose, the research also examines the
technical terms associated with the image design, aesthetic, and emotional design
that aims to produce a design typical paddle boat Sengkaling Recreation Park.
The advantage of this study is to support the success of one of the
alternative development programs rides Recreation Parks Sengkaling friendly and
pollution-free environment to maintain the naturalness of the natural area around
the recreation park. Besides, the research is also intended to produce a paddle boat
that is able to operate comfortably and able to accommodate the needs of the user
community with a variety of size, age, and gender (male and female) with a
design that communicates the image of the typical value Sengkaling Recreation
Park and is expected to increase brand image Sengkaling Recreation Park as a
whole.
