Abstract

Motor bakar merupakan salah satu jenis mesin penggerak yang banyak dipakai
dengan memanfaatkan energi kalor dari proses pembakaran menjadi energi mekanik.
Kualitas pembakaran dapat ditingkatkan dengan penambahan gas hidrogen dan
oksigen yang diperoleh dari elektrolisa air, bahkan dapat megurangi pemakaian bahan
bakar utama serta mengurangi kadar emisi gas buang.
Gas HHO yang digunakan diperoleh dari Generator Gas (GGH) tipe dry 6
cell, 5 plate netral berukuran 92 mm x 92 mm . KOH yang digunakan sebanyak 10
gram/0,5 liter . HHO yang hasilkan digunakan sebagai extender pada engine
Sinjai premium dua silinder 644 cc. Penelitian dilakukan pada putaran 2000 rpm –
5000 rpm laboratorium Teknik Pembakaran dan Bahan Bakar (TPBB) Teknik Mesin
FTI ITS.
Dari hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa dengan penggunaan bahan bakar
premium+HHO terjadi peningkatan torsi sebesar 19,87 % , daya mesin sebesar
20,14 % , tekanan efektif rata-rata sebesar 19,87 % , efisiensi thermal sebesar 12,39
% , penurunan pemakaian konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik sebesar 36,44 % , kadar
emisi karbon monoksida (CO) sebesar 28,756 % , kadar emisi karbon dioksida
(CO2) sebesar 21,303 % , kadar emisi hidrokarbon (HC) sebesar 45,039 % , lambda
(λ) sebesar 14,572 % ; peningkatan oksigen (O2 ) sebesar 47,554 % dibandingkan
dengan penggunaan bahan bakar premium pada mesin Sinjai. Dari hasil yang
diperoleh dapat meningkatkan performance engine dan mengurangi emisi gas buang.

Combustion engine is one of the driving engine that is widely used by utilizing
the heat energy from the combustion process into mechanical energy. Combustion
quality can be improved by the addition of hydrogen gas and oxygen, obtained from
the electrolysis of water, even dist it can decrease the main fuel consumption and
exhaust emissions level.
HHO gas used were obtained from Gas Generator (GGH) Dry type 6 cell, 5
neutral plate with the dimension 92 mm x 92 mm. KOH is used as much 10 grams /
0.5 liter . HHO is used as an extender in the two-cylinder engine with premium
Sinjai 644 cc. The study was conducted in 2000 rpm - 5000 rpm.
In the research, it is known that the use of premium fuel + HHO torque
increased by 19.87%, 20.14% of the engine power, average effective pressure
19.87%, the thermal efficiency 12.39%, a decrease of specific fuel consumption of
36.44%, the levels of carbon monoxide emissions (CO) of 28.756%, levels of carbon
dioxide emissions (CO2) of 21.303%, levels of emission hydrocarbons (HC) of
45.039%, lambda (λ) of 14.572% ; increase of oxygen (O2) at 47.554% compared
with the use of premium fuel in the engine Sinjai. From the results obtained can
improve engine performance and reduce exhaust emissions.
