Abstract

PT.

PT. Pertamina Patra Niaga has been doing Fuel Trading since 2004 and distributed it to all over Indonesia. While the cost used for distribution is definitely not small. Here the authors want to optimize the cost of distribution with existing methods in Operations Research.

While in Operations Research the problem of transportation is discussed in Linear Programming. The selected method is Least Cost (LC) and Stepping Stone (SS), where the LC method is done first after that proceed to Stepping Stone method. Because basically the principle of LC method which allocates supply from the lowest delivery cost of transportation matrix to fulfill the demand is not optimal yet, furthermore the SS metod is required to achive the optimal solution. The bunkers are set to be the origin of the distribution and the bunker capacity is called supply, and the city / district is set to be the destination and the demand is called demand it self.

In accordance with the steps above, both methods can be done to solve the distribution problem. And by comparing the existing costs with costs after the method is applied, it can be seen that the two methods can not only minimize the cost of distribution, but also can allocate fuel exactly in accordance with demand required. And with the User Interface that has been created with the Java programming language, can help simplify the calculation with both methods.
