Abstract

NOx emissions with ultra-low criteria are desirable for combustion of gas turbines. Application of combustion with non-premixed flame model is widely used because this combustion model has good stability and control. However, this type of combustion has several disadvantages including soot emissions and NOx. Installation of swirling injectors that can be enabled to optimize the mixing of fuel and air, with optimal combustion to reduce the pollutant produced. This study uses the application of the concept of Partially Premixed Combustion and the influence of swirl number on the combustion chamber. 4 main variations of swirl number each variation has 3 subvariations equivalence ratio with equivalence ratio value equal to 1,6, 1,97, and 2,4 variation of swirl number with an interval between a variation of the value of swirl number equal to 0,1. In all combustion reactions, there was a significant decrease in temperature with an average decrease of 1782,645 K. There was a similarity in the decrease in the value of the temperature in all equivalence ratios of swirl number 0.57 to 0.67. The different swirl number values associated with the temperature and influence of the swirl numbers fluctuate with the rising parameters being the same temperature. With maximum temperatures found on the swirl number of 0.57 on the equivalence ratio of 1.6 and 1.97 whereas in the 2.4 equality ratio has the maximum temperature at the swirl number of 0.77. With the maximum flame stagnation point is found on the swirl number of 0.57 at the equivalence ratio of 1.6 which is located 0.05856 m. An indicator of NOx pollution on swirl number in each equivalence ratio shows that the pattern of rising and fall of pollutant value in each swirl number is similar to the pattern of fluctuation of the temperature value in each swirl number. NOx Pollutant obtained a maximum comparison on equality of 1.6 with swirl number 0.57 and the occurrence of significant pollutant prices in the ratio of equality of 1.97 and 2.4 has a much lower value. The most perfect burning with the low swirl number is swirl number 0.77 at the 1.97 and 2.4 equivalence ratios. Whereas, in the equivalence ratio 1.6 there is a value with the lowest CO mass fraction in swirl number 0.57 and can be said the most perfect at the equivalence ratio 1.6 is the swirl number 0.57.
