Abstract

The discovery of oil and gas seepage occurring in the sub-volcanic area of Java Island provides information on the potential existence of a source rock containing a closed organic element with a layer of volcanic rock in the area. Seismic method is one method that has been proven effective in mapping oil and gas targets. However, the existence of several types of volcanic rock originating from sub-volcanic deposits creates complex lithology with the complexity of wave response. This results in the identified volcanic reflector of seismic data being blurred. Therefore, integration is needed from other methods to solve the problem. One way is to integrate the seismic and magnetotelluric data. The data used in this research is the synthetic seismic and magnetoteluric data from sub-volcanic area of North Serayu basin. The area has a petroleum trap in the form of a toe thrust structured of standstone located beneath the basalt layer which later became the target in this study. The integration process begins by converting the magnetoteluric data resistivity value to velocity using the Faust Equation and obtaining the values of a and c of 130.3888788 and 0.19999999 to produce a velocity conversion value corresponding to the velocity value of the model. After that, the value of the velocity of the conversion results is integrated into the process of velocity analysis on seismic data processing. Based on integration processing, it is found that magnetotelluric data can enhance seismic imaging quality by showing the continuity of the reflector event at the target zone (depth 4000-6000 ms) where if with seismic data only the target zone blurring of reflector causing difficulties in interpretation process.
