Abstract
Tren model perkantoran atau ruang kerja di Surabaya semakin mengarah pada konsep coworking space sejalan dengan perkembangan kehidupan sosial dan teknologi. Coworking adalah bekerja bersama orang lain dengan cara berbagi dan fleksibel yaitu kumpulan meja kerja yang dapat disewa harian, mingguan, atau bulanan. Pada tahun 2015, terdapat sejumlah 7800 coworking space di seluruh dunia dengan rasio pertumbuhan 83% dari tahun 2012 ke 2013 dan 36% dari tahun 2014 ke 2015 (Gerdenitsch et al, 2016). Berbagai macam ahli independen yang didominasi oleh freelancers atau pekerja dari daerah lain menggunakan tempat ini sebagai wadah untuk menjalankan bisnis mereka. Mayoritas dari ahli independen tersebut berasal dari usaha yang dilakukan di rumah dan berpindah pada coworking space karena menghindari berbagai masalah (Gerdenitsch et al, 2016). Salah satu masalah yang sering dijumpai oleh pekerja khususnya pekerja kantor adalah kesehatan.
Menurut Andrea Molloy (2005) Repetitive Strain Injuries adalah sejenis cedera pada persendian akibat ketegangan pada otot atau saraf karena suatu aktivitas fisik tertentu yang dilakukan terus menerus dan dalam waktu yang lama. Gejala penyakit terjadi akibat lingkungan kerja yang kurang mendukung seperti ukuran meja dan kursi yang kurang sesuai, pantulan cahaya, serta udara dalam ruang kerja terlalu panas atau terlalu lembab. Permasalahan kesehatan tersebut menghasilkan inspirasi bagi penulis untuk membuat konsep coworking space yang menekankan healthy working environment. Selain itu bangunan eksisting yang merupakan bangunan peninggalan kolonial Belanda sejak tahun 1939 menuntut desain yang dapat menonjolkan nilai-nilai warisan sejarah.
Metode desain yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Tujuan metode ini adalah mengungkap fakta, keadaan, fenomena, variabel dan keadaan yang terjadi saat penulisan berjalan. Desain merupakan representasi Niew Indische yang diolah sedemikian rupa sehingga tidak memberatkan bangunan dan tetap menjaga nilai sejarah bangunan serta tetap dapat dinikmati kaum muda. Konsep tersebut diiringi oleh healthy working environment yang mengutamakan warna hijau sebagai simbol kesehatan, penghawaan yang nyaman, dan pencahayaan yang disesuaikan dengan aktivitas penggunanya.

Coworking is working with others by sharing and being flexible: a collection of desks that can be rented daily, weekly or monthly. By 2015, there are 7800 coworking spaces worldwide with an 83% growth ratio from 2012 to 2013 and 36% from 2014 to 2015 (Gerdenitsch et al, 2016). A wide range of independent experts dominated by freelancers or workers from other regions use this place as a place to run their business. The majority of these independent experts come from home-based businesses and move on to coworking space for avoiding problems (Gerdenitsch et al, 2016). One of the problems often encountered by workers, especially office workers is health.
Health symptoms occur due to tension in the muscles or nerves due to a certain physical activity that is done continuously and in a long time. Symptoms of the disease occur due to less supportive work environments such as inappropriate table and chair size, reflections of light, and air in the workspace is too hot or too humid. Health problems are generating inspiration for the author to create the concept of coworking space that emphasizes the healthy working environment. In addition, the existing building which is a Dutch colonial heritage building since 1939 demands a design that can highlight the values of historical heritage.
The design method used is qualitative research method. The purpose of this method is to reveal facts, circumstances, phenomena, variables and circumstances that occur when writing goes. The design used is a representation of Niew Indische which is processed in such a way that it does not incriminate the building and keep the historical value of the building and still can be enjoyed by young people. The concept is accompanied by a healthy working environment that emphasizes the green color as a symbol of health, comfort, and lighting tailored to the activities of its users.
