Abstract

Perkembangan material saat ini telah mengalami kemajuan yang sangat pesat, para pelaku industri di tuntut untuk mengembangkan material inovatif untuk digunakan pada bentuk kontruksi. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendapatkan material core sandwich dengan kombinasi pelat baja. Materi inti yang diteliti terbuat dari resin epoksi dan bahan limbah - serbuk kayu Sengon (Albizia chinensis) sebagai bahan pengisi.. Serbuk kayu sebelum dibuat sebagai bahan core diberi peroses terlebih dahulu diberi teretment yaitu berupa di oven selama 24 jam dan di saring dengan mesh #50. Komposisi material inti yang diteliti adalah 0%, 5%, 10%, 13%, 15% dan 20% serbuk kayu sengon. Identifikasi dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen yang meliputi pengujian komposisi kimia, densitas, kekuatan tarik, kekerasan dan kekuatan tekan material untuk mendapatkan nilai persyaratan yang diberikan oleh LR. Dari hasil uji core, komposisi core terbaik akan di gunakan struktur sandwich. Uji lentur pada struktur sandwich dilakukan untuk mendapatkan kekuatan lenturnya. Selain itu, untuk menyelidiki sifat dinamis dari struktur sandwich, uji getaran dilakukan. Simulasi sandwich panel pada struktur kapal juga dilakukan untuk mempelajari pengurangan berat kapal ketika struktur sandwich diterapkan untuk pembangunan kapal.
Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian memenuhi standar LR untuk core material dengan kadar serbuk kayu kurang dari 15% . dari hasil pengujian lentur sandwich panel core 10 % didapatkan nilai sebesar 254,38 Mpa sedangkan untuk core 13% sebesar 241,44 Mpa. Frekuensi natural dari struktur sandwich dengan core 10% dan 13% serbuk kayu Sengon masing-masing 515 Hz dan 497 Hz. Uji getaran terhadap struktur balok sandwich sederhana menujukkan nilai perubahan frekuensi 7%. Analisa aplikasi sandwich panel pada konstruksi pelat datar kapal menghasilkan perubahan berat konstruksi sebesar -8.82 % dengan perubahan tebal pada plat tank top."

The development of advanced material has made rapid progress. Industry is demanding to develop innovative materials for use in ship construction. This research was conducted to obtain core material of sandwich structure with steel face sheets. Core material under study was made from epoxy resin and waste material- sawdust of Sengon wood (Albizia chinensis)- as the filler material. Before being made as core material, wood sawdust was treated by drying in the oven for 24 hours and then sieving with mesh # 50. The core materials were composed of epoxy resin and 0%, 5%, 10%, 13%, 15% and 20% of total core weight of sengon wood sawdust powder. Core material was identified by performing chemical composition, density, tensile strength, hardness, and compressive strength tests to ensure that the core met LR standard. From the results of core tests the compositions of core were selected for sandwich structure’s core. Bending tests on the sandwich structures were conducted to obtain their bending strengths. Moreover, to investigate the dynamic properties of the sandwich structures, vibration tests were performed. Simulation of sandwich panel application on ship structure was also conducted to study the ship weight reduction when the sandwich structure was applied to ship construction.
The results of the study showed that cores that contented of wood powder less than 15% were met LR standard. Sandwich plate structure with core composed of 10% and 13% Sengon wood sawdust powder were made for further tests. Bending strengths of sandwich structures with cores containing 10% and 13% Sengon wood powder were 254.38 MPa and 241.44 MPa. The natural frequencies of sandwich structure with core of 10% and 13% Sengon wood powder were 515 Hz and 497 Hz respectively. There was about 7% change in natural frequency when a defect was introduced on the sandwich core. Analysis of sandwich panel applications on shipboard plate construction resulted in a change in construction weight of -8.82% with a thick change in the tank top plate.
