Abstract

Pneumonia is a lung infection that can cause death, pneumonia is the leading causes of death in infants. Surabaya was ranked fourth after Gresik and Sidoarjo Bojonegoro. Have found as many as 4665 cases of 29.18% of the estimated 22,454 children under five who suffer from pneumonia, later in 2013 fell to 20.78%. Fourth MDG goal is to reduce child mortality by the target reduction in child mortality by the year 2015 two-thirds of 1990 or 32 deaths per 1,000 live births. To overcome these problems need to be investigated factors thought to influence in an increasing number of patients with pneumonia in infants in the city of Surabaya in 2013. As these factors are the percentage of malnourished children under five, the percentage of children who received vitamin A supplements, the percentage of low birth weight, the percentage of children immunized against measles and infant health care. Because the data patterns do not follow the pattern of specific data, then performed using nonparametric regression modeling with spline. The best model is obtained from the point of optimal knots based on the Generalized Cross Validation (GCV) the smallest. Based on this research, spline nonparametric regression models with the best combination knots points (3,2,3,3,3) with all significant variable is the percentage of children malnutrition (X1), the percentage of infants receive supplements of Vitamin-A (X2), the percentage by weight low birth (X3), measles immunization (X4) and infant health services (X5). The model has a R2 of 97.224%.
