Abstract

Di Indonesia, terhitung baru 10-11% dari jumlah anak penyandang disabilitas yang sudah menerima pendidikan khusus. Sekolah Luar Biasa yang sudah ada masih belum bisa secara penuh memenuhi kebutuhan anak penyandang disabilitas dari segi fasilitas sarana dan prasarana sekolah. Sehingga perlu adanya inovasi dalam memenuhi kebutuhan sarana dan prasarana sekolah luar biasa dan dalam pembuatan konsep desain yang menarik.
Saraswati Learning Center merupakan sebuah lembaga pendidikan khusus (SLB) yang menjadi tempat belajar bagi anak berkebutuhan khusus. Sekolah ini dipilih sebagai studi kasus objek karena merupakan salah satu sekolah luar biasa yang terkenal karena memiliki banyak program belajar yang menarik. Namun pada kenyataannya, kondisi lahan yang terbatas menyebabkan sejumlah ruang pelayanan menjadi kurang terfasilitasi dengan baik, seperti tidak adanya beberapa ruang terapi, penempatan ruang yang belum teratur, serta desain dari ruang-ruang sekolah itu sendiri yang kurang menarik sehingga belum bisa meningkatkan minat belajar siswa.
Oleh karena itu desain interior sekolah luar biasa Saraswati Learning Center dengan konsep fun but functional bisa menjadi konsep baru, Siswa dapat merasakan suasana bermain yang ceria walaupun saat sedang belajar. Diharapkan dengan pengaplikasian konsep fun but functional pada desain interior sekolah bisa meningkatkan semangat belajar dan kreativitas siswa.

In Indonesia, there are only 10-11% of the number of children with disabilities who have received special education. Special Needs Schools still can’t fully meet the needs of children with disabilities in terms of facilities and school infrastructure. So that, there needs an innovation to meet the needs of special needs school’s facilities and infrastructure and to make an interesting design concept.
Saraswati Learning Center is a Special Needs School that become a learning place for children with special needs. This school was chosen as a case study’s object because it is one of the outstanding schools that is famous for having many interesting learning programs. But in reality, limited schools area caused some of the service spaces became less facilitated, such as, several therapeutic spaces aren’t available, the irregular placement of spaces, and the design of the school spaces themselves which are not attractive so they can’t increase student learning interest.
Therefore, the interior design of Saraswati Learning Center Special Needs School with fun but functional concept can be a new concept for the school. Students can feel a cheerful atmosphere even when they are studying. It is expected that by applying the concept of fun but functional on the interior design of the school can enhance the enthusiasm of learning and creativity for student.
