Abstract

Permasalahan dasar dalam pengoperasian motor diesel yakni
semakin berkurangnya ketersediaan dan persiapan yang diperlukan
untuk memenuhi konsumsi bahan bakar. Adanya biodiesel sebagai
bahan alternatif yang terbarukan (Renewable) mampu memberi
jawaban dari permasalahan tersebut. Seperti contohnya biodiesel
berbahan minyak kelapa sawit (Crude Palm Oil) yang sudah lama
dikembangkan dan telah dijadikan sebagai bahan bakar campuran
dalam bidang industri, hingga pemanfaatan minyak umbi porang
(Amarphopallus Oncophilus) yang masih baru pengembangannya.
Sebuah eksperimen perbandingan proses pembakaran (Combustion
Process) dari biodiesel minyak umbi porang (Amarphopallus
Oncophilus) dengan minyak kelapa sawit (Crude Palm Oil)
dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat mesin analisis pembakaran
(TMR-Instrument Amplifier). Penyambungan antara motor diesel
Yanmar dan komputer dengan perangkat lunaknya (TMR-Soft)
untuk membaca analisis hasil proses pembakaran (Combustion
Process) tersebut. Dari analisis ini menunjukkan bahwa Biodiesel
CAO (Amarphopallus Oncophilus) memiliki nilai tekanan
maksimal (Maximum Pressure) dan Heat Release yang paling
tinggi, nilai Ignition Delay yang paling lama & Knocking yang
berada pada posisi kedua dari Biodiesel CPO & Pertamina Dex
sebagai pembandingnya.

Basic problems about diesel engine operation that reduced
avaiability and preparation required to fulfill the consumption of
fuel. Biodiesel as an alternative materials that is renewable have
been able to provide an answer from the problem of fuel. For
example biodiesel from Crude Palm Oil (CPO) that has been
developed and haad been used as fuel mix in the field of industry,
until the utilization of Corm Porang Oil (Amarphopallus
Oncophilus) that relatively new development. An experiment
comparison of combustion process from Corm Porang Oil with
Crude Palm Oil conducted using combustion analysis engine
(TMR-Instrument Amplifier). The connection between Yanmar
diesel motor with computer as well as done to read the result of
analysis combustion process. From this analysis determined that
Biodiesel CAO have the highest Maximal Pressure and Heat
Release, has the most long value of Ignition Delay and the second
position of Knock Detection from Biodiesel CPO and Pertamina
Dex.
