Abstract

proses perajangan daun tembakau.
debu tembakau

Generally, biofouling is defined as organisms’
attachment and growth in the surface of material that was soaked
in the ocean. Microscopic biofouling is called microfouling,
where it plays the role as a pioneer before eventually bigger
organisms will take its place (macrofouling). To date, biofouling
is being controlled by using chemical ingredients in antifouling
paint. The usage of tributyltin–polishing copolymer paints (TBT
– SPC cat) in the paint is causing damages towards the nontarget
organisms in the ocean. This research is conducted using
tobacco dust, which was the by-product of tobacco chopping.
The purpose of this research is to identify the potential of
tobacco dust extract as antifouling material.
The result of the conducted research, it is known that
tobacco dust has potency as anti microfouling. Tobacco dust
extract with concentration rate of 40% is the most effective
concentration as antimicrofouling material and isolate type 3 and
4 are the most effective bacterial isolates to inhibited by tobacco
dust extract
