Abstract

Aluminum smelting waste from the Segodopuro, Sumobito, Jombang contains several types of metal oxides. The major metal oxides were aluminum and zinc oxide. The aluminum content in the smelting waste was about 52.90%. Thus, this waste was very prospective to be applied as Remazol yellow adsorbent. The adsorption of Remazol yellow was carried out by batch method. The adsorption optimization was carried out at various contact time (10-70 minutes), adsorbent dosage (4-28 mg), initial concentration (10-60 mg/L), and pH (2-10). The adsorption filtrate solution was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 417 nm. The optimum condition of Remazol yellow dye adsorption was occured at 40 minutes contact time, 20 mg adsorbent dosage, 40 mg/L initial concentration, and at pH 3 with %Removal of 90.78%.
