Abstract

Sejak Indonesia menjalankan program konversi minyak tanah ke LPG pada tahun 2007, konsumsi LPG dalam negeri melonjak drastis. Kebutuhan energi dan pentingnya pengembangan bahan bakar alternatif menjadi latar belakang utama pendirian industri DME ini. Didukung dengan ketersediaan bahan baku gas alam di Indonesia yang cukup untuk memproduksi DME sebagai bahan bakar alternatif. Dengan kondisi demikian maka industri DME di Indonesia memiliki prospek positif kedepannya. Proses pembuatan DME menggunakan metode direct process dan dapat diuraikan menjadi 5 tahapan, yaitu proses reforming, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), purifikasi syngas, reaksi pembentukan DME, dan purifikasi produk. Dari penghitungan analisa ekonomi diperoleh Internal Rate Return (IRR) sebesar 26,99%, waktu pengembalian modal (pay out period) selama 3,5 tahun, dan Break Event Point (BEP) yang diperoleh sebesar 31,98%. Hal tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa pabrik layak untuk didirikan.

Since Indonesia implemented a kerosene to LPG conversion program in 2007, domestic LPG consumption has increased drastically. Energy needs and the importance of developing alternative fuels are the main backgrounds for the establishment of this DME industry. Supported by the availability of natural gas as raw materials in Indonesia which is sufficient to produce DME as an alternative fuel. With these conditions, the DME industry in Indonesia has positive prospects going forward. The process of making DME uses the direct process method and can be broken down into 5 stages, namely the reforming process, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), syngas purification, DME formation reactions, and product purification. From the calculation of the economic analysis, it is obtained that the Internal Rate Return (IRR) is 26.99%, the payout period is 3.5 years, and the Break Event Point (BEP) is 31.98%. This indicates that the factory is feasible to build.
