Abstract

PT.
nilai sigma awal perusahaan yaitu 4,04. Selanjutnya dilakukan analisis akar

PT. Jerigen is a company engaged in the plastic packaging manufacturing
industry using injection and blow molding. One of the products that is produced
continuously is 5 Liter Jerry Cans. The production process of 5 Liter Jerrycans
still produces a high number of defect products that exceed 3% of the quality
target of the total production. There are five types of defects that become critical
defects, namely lumps, black spots, broken drop tests, transparent and leaking.
This will cause the company to experience losses and reduce consumer
confidence. Therefore, this research was conducted to minimize the variety of
products that resulted in many product defects with Six Sigma. The research starts
from the identification of the production process using flow charts, the types of
defects and critical to product quality. Then calculate the defect level with a
pareto chart and process capability, the company's initial sigma value is 4.04.
Furthermore, analysis of the root cause of the problem was carried out using a
fishbone diagram and 5 whys analysis, which obtained 8 root causes and
completed the FMEA questionnaire to assess the severity, occurrence, and
detection of each root cause. In this study, five alternative improvements are
proposed, one of which is repairing the inspection and maintenance system. If the
alternative improvement is implemented by the company as a whole, there will be
an increase in the sigma level value from 4.04 to 4.14.
