Abstract

Flood rescue Vehicle (FRV), as one of the vehicles to evacuate flood victims must have a strong body structure so that it is not easily damaged and also able to protect passengers. Therefore, a test is needed to prove the power of the car's structure. In this final task is carried out testing side crash or side crash test on body structure in simulation using ANSYS software.
Body FRV is modeled using Solidwork software with dimensions adjusted to the original size of the FRV car. Simulation of the ANSYS software begins with inserting the FRV body material and adjusting the boundary condition used, followed by the meshing process and convergence test to determine the convergence of the mesh process results. Proceed with setting the initial condition adjusted to the standard testing of FMVSS 214 side pole and the IIHS of moving deformable barier. After the simulation, observed the results of deformation and energy absorption that occurs due to impact load so that it can be observed suitability of the design body structure with the production standards that apply.
The results of the test showed that FRV car body design passed the IIHS standard, but had poor results on the test with the same mass vehicles and in the side pole with maximum speed, which has a deformation value of 37.98 cm and 37.152 cm. The punyadifference in impact simulation results is influenced by mass and speed at the simulation limit condition.
