Abstract

Ketersediaan kayu jati sebagai material dasar pembangunan kapal kayu setiap tahun mengalami
penurunan. Menurunnya ketersediaan kayu jati menjadi penyebab harga kayu jati yang semakin
tinggi. Bambu Ori (Bambusa Arundenacea) menjadi material alternatif pembangunan kapal
kayu. Bambu ori mudah didapatkan, mudah dalam pembudidayaan, laju pertumbuhan yang
cepat, dan memiliki sifat mekanis yang baik. Pemilihan variasi umur bambu mempengaruhi
sifat mekanis (Tarik dan Tekuk). Penelitian ini memaparkan nilai kuat tarik dan kuat tekuk
maksimum bambu laminasi berdasarkan lima variasi umur. Pengujian tarik (Tensile Testing)
dan pengujian tekuk (Flexure Testing) digunakan untuk menganalisis kuat tarik dan tekuk
berdasarkan ASTM D 3500 dan ASTM D3034. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa bambu
variasi lima tahun memiliki kuat tarik dan kuat tekuk yang paling baik sebesar 213.275 Mpa
dan 127.44 Mpa. Perhitungan ekonomis menunjukkan laminasi bambu variasi lima tahun
memiliki keunggulan dari sisi ekonomis dengan biaya produksi sebesar Rp 30,933,768 untuk
pembangunan geladak kapal kayu 30 GT.

Availability of teak wood as the basic material construction of wooden ships has decreased
every year. The price of teak wood is higher than bamboo that cause of declining availability
of teak. Ori bamboo (Bambusa Arundenacea) can be used to alternative material for wooden
ship production. Ori bamboo is easy to reached, easy to cultivation, rapid growth rate, and good
mechanical properties. The variations of age can influence mechanical properties of ori bamboo
(Tensile and Flexure). This study describes the value of tensile and flexure strength in
maximum condition of laminated bamboo based on five age variations. Tensile and flexure
testing are used to analyze of tensile and flexure strength based on ASTM D 3500 and ASTM
D3034. The test results showed that the five year variation of ori bamboo has the best tensile
and flexure strength, it was 213.275 MPa and 127.44 MPa. The Economic calculations showed
that five years variation of laminated ori bamboo has the advantage of economical for
production cost, it was Rp 30,933,768 for the construction of a wooden deck 30 GT.
