Abstract

The increasing in development of information and communication technology has led them to the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is a megatrend in next-generation technology that can impact the entire business spectrum. IoT has a variety of application domains, including health care. In the modern health care environment, Body Sensor Network (BSN) technology is one of the core technologies of developing IoT in health care systems, where patients can be monitored using a small, robust set of sensor nodes. The development of BSN in health care has made patient monitoring more feasible, as it does not use a manual system where patients must come to the hospital for medical checkup, thus saving time and money. This study aims to provide an alternative method for decision making that is simpler but with lower complexity, namely the method between the Decision Tree Classifier, KNN Classifier, and Naïve Bayes Classifier. Furthermore, by calculating the results of the f-measure or f1-score of the three methods, a method that has better accuracy and performance will be obtained. Next, designing a system that is built to carry out IoT-based patient health monitoring using the ESP32 microcontroller, Arduino IDE, Firebase, Jupyter Notebook and Flutter which is called "Recheck". The sensors used are the MAX30102 sensor as a pulse sensor and the BMP280 sensor as a body temperature sensor. The results of this study indicate that the method that has better accuracy is the Decision Tree Classifier with the accuracy value of the IoT device is 94%. Meanwhile, the accuracy value of the IoT device for the KNN Classifier method is 67% and the accuracy value of the IoT device for the Naïve Bayes Classifier method is 76%. In addition, a well-designed patient health monitoring system was implemented successfully. The practical contribution to this research is that the patient health monitoring system has succeeded in providing convenience to patients so that they do not need to regularly come to the hospital to checkup their health.
