Abstract

Vibration testing on mechanical components is generally carried out on one main axis, in the horizontal or vertical direction only. In fact, in actual conditions, vibrations can occur in a system on several axes, where the test must be carried out close to the actual working conditions when the components are used.
In this study, it discusses the design and fabrication of testing tool that using the concept of the vibration exciter mechanism which produces forced mechanical vibrations caused by unbalance mass rotation with the resultant vibration direction (horizontal and vertical axes), namely the Dual Translational Shaking Table (DTST). This study also analyzes the dynamic response of the Dual Translational Shaking Table (DTST) to variations in mass unbalance and input frequency.
Dual Translational Shaking Table (DTST) testing is done by assembling the DTST as an object to be tested for its dynamic response to unbalance mass variations of 400gr, 800gr, and 1200gr. Data retrieval is also carried out by inputting the frequency from the AC motor ¼ Hp, as input for the frequency parameter to be tested in the frequency range 7 to 15 Hz. It is also necessary to install an acceleration sensor (accelerometer probe) on a vibrating object which functions to measure the acceleration of a moving object. The output from the accelerometer becomes input on the oscilloscope to display a graph of the dynamic response of the DTST acceleration.
The results of this Final Project research, which has been designed and built a tool for testing mechanical components, battery pack, and other components for laboratory scale in the form of a Dual Translational Shaking Table (DTST) and the results obtained in the form of acceleration response graphs to changes in input frequency and data The test has the same characteristics with an error tolerance value of 15% with the simulation results data with mathematical modeling. In the results of calculations and simulations, it is found that the natural frequency is 3.45 Hz on the horizontal axis and 5.98 Hz on the vertical axis. The working frequency used is in the range of 7-15 Hz so that the tool is safe to use because it does not pass through its two natural frequency ranges. The graph of the experimental results shows that the greater the unbalance mass given, the greater the acceleration response is proportional. Meanwhile, frequency has the influence of the quadratic function on the acceleration response.
