Abstract

Reporting of Measured Data.

Deteriorating air conditions, mainly due to motorized vehicles, have prompted many automotive companies to start developing electric-powered vehicles. One of them that is often found in urban areas is an electric scooter. In designing the E-Scooter, many components must be considered, one of which is the hollow shaft on the wheel hub motor located on the rear wheel. The hollow shaft on the rear wheel receives static loading due to the weight of the vehicle, driver, and passenger, as well as dynamic loading due to different road surface conditions and speeds. This research was conducted to analyze the deformation and von misses stress that occurs in the hollow shaft of the motor wheel.
In this final study, a simulation study was conducted using ANSYS static structural, modal, and random vibration software to analyze the structure of a single-sided hollow shaft due to static and dynamic loading. The static load received by the hollow shaft is in the form of a vehicle weight of 60 kg, and the weight of the driver and passenger of 75 kg each. To get a dynamic load, a half-vehicle simulation is carried out in MATLAB so that a dynamic load is obtained in the form of Power Spectral Density (PSD). PSD represents the average vibration that occurs in the Hollow shaft E-Scooter as a function of frequency. Variations of input dynamic loading performed at speeds of 40 km/hour, 60 km/hour, and 80km/hour on each road class A, road class B, and road class C by ISO 8608 Mechanical vibration standards, road surface profiles. Measured Data Reporting. The materials used in the hollow shaft E-Scooter are AISI 1035 and AISI 1040. The results of the analysis in this study are deformation and von misses stress on the hollow shaft, so it is known that the ideal material for single-sided hollow shafts is based on the safety factor value is on safety limit.
From this final project, the results obtained are the maximum deformation due to statistical loads on the AISI 1035 material of 0.001427 mm. This value is slightly larger than the AISI 1040 material of 0.001398 mm while the stress that occurs in the two materials is the same at 35,34 MPa. The maximum deformation and stress that occurs in the single-sided hollow shaft due to the dynamic load received occur when the vehicle is traveling on a class C road with a speed of 80 km/hour. The maximum value of deformation and stress on AISI 1035 material is 0.017468 mm, 393.35 Mpa. The AISI 1040 material has a smaller maximum deformation and stress value of 0.015223 mm, 352.16 Mpa. The smallest deformation and stress values occur at a speed of 40 km/hour on class A roads of 0.001631 mm, 47.07 Mpa on AISI 1035, and 0.001610 mm, 46.90 Mpa in AISI 1040 materials. Deformation and stress in dynamic loading are strongly influenced by vehicle speed and the condition of the road surface being traversed. The greater the speed and the worse the road conditions, the greater the load received by the shaft so that the deformation and stress that occurs will also be greater. The difference value of deformation and stress between the two materials is caused by the structure of the material. The AISI 1040 material has a higher number of carbon atoms than the AISI 1035 material, causing less deformation and stress than AISI 1035. AISI 1040 material is safe to use because it has a safety factor value greater than 1.25 so that the model made will not be damaged when receiving dynamic loads as simulated
