Abstract

PT.

PT. X is an oil and gas sector company that exploits and processes oil and gas offshore. Fluid separation activities as the main function of the offshore platform is done in Poleng Processing Platform (PPP). On the other hand, offshore oil and gas activities are a process that requires a lot of energy which leads to the large production of emissions being discharged into the atmosphere. This research was conducted to identify the environmental impacts that occur in the oil and gas production process at PPP PT. X, to determine priority in handling the impacts, and to recommend alternative for improvements in accordance with determined priority.
Analysis was done using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method with SimaPro software and functional unit per ton of product. The environmental impact analysis was carried out using ReCiPe 2016 and CML IA-Baseline Method with midpoint approach. Impact categories included are Global Warming, Ozone Layer Depletion, Acidification, Eutrophication, Potential Photochemical Oxidation, Potential Abiotic Depletion (fossil and non fossil), Carcinogenic, Toxicity, Water Footprint, and Land Use Change.
Results of this research showed global warming as highest environmental impact with a value of 54,285 kg CO2 eq per ton product (ReCiPe 2016) or 52,063 kg CO2 eq per ton product (CML IA-Baseline) and gas compressor as process hotspot. The selected alternative recommendation was addition of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) or CO2-Enhanced Oil Recovery (CO2-EOR) which estimated to reduce emissions by 30%.
