Abstract

Evaluation of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons in Polaman 2 (PLM-2) sedimentary rock as an organic geochemistry aspect has been obtained through biomarker analysis. Analysis of biomarkers was carried out by extraction, fractionation, and identification of the structure of biomarkers using a combination of Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The discovery of n-alkane homologous compounds with a bimodal distribution indicates more than one source of organic matter. The ratio value of LMW/HMW = 0.02; Wax Index = 0.26; C31/C19 = 15.46; and the presence of pentacyclic triterpenoid compounds indicates that the source of organic matter comes from algae, macrophyte, higher plants, and bacteria. The group of hopane compounds with ββ structure, unsaturated carbon skeleton on monoaromatic pentacyclic triterpenoids, also the values of CPI = 1.68 and LHCPI = 0.03 indicate low thermal maturity. Pr/Ph ratio value is 1.26 with the low abundance of 5α(H)-pregnana and gammacerane, and the high abundance of de-A-lupane indicated that the organic matter was deposited in an oxic environment
