Abstract

Gemstones or precious stones are one of the wealth of natural resources produced from the large number of active volcanoes in Indonesia. According to the survey results, it was found that almost all provinces in Indonesia have the potential of precious stones. Gemstones themselves have a very diverse form in nature. To beautify the shape, adjust the shape, and size, most of the gemstones are shaped or cut according to the desired shape and size. The shapes were cut from the raw rock which varied in shape so of course it would result in cut scraps. The residual product cannot be utilized properly because it is felt that the size is small and irregular so that it will be difficult for the formation process. The purpose of this research is to utilize the remaining pieces of crystal stone by recycling it into new jewelry products that can be combined with precious metal materials. The jewelry product must also have a concept that fits the target market, namely urban women. The concept raised is natural shape, elegant, and feminine. Natural shape is a concept that uses forms from nature such as plants and animals, the elegant concept relates to the details of the shape and finishing materials, and the feminine relates to the target market. This design is carried out by two methods, namely qualitative and quantitative. The method used to obtain qualitative data is through scientific literature; making observations; material exploration; analysis of segmenting, targeting, and positioning; muses; personas; mood boards; creating sketch thumbnails; alternative design; and 3D model simulation. While quantitative data is obtained by conducting a questionnaire. After all these methods were used, 3 series of jewelry designs were formed, namely “Puspa”, “Patera”, and “Insecta”. The puspa series adapts flower shapes and is also related to the characteristics of urban women who always develop themselves. The patera series adapts the shapes of the leaves and is also related to the characteristics of an independent urban woman. As well as the insecta series adapting the forms of insects and also related to the characteristics of urban women who are domestic followers.
