Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain tas wanita yang menggunakan kain tenun Donggala yang merupakan khas Sulawesi Tengah, dengan tambahan kombinasi teknik crochet. Desain ini memadukan keunikan kain tenun Donggala yang memiliki motif dan corak khas dengan keindahan dan kelenturan yang dihasilkan oleh teknik crochet. Metode penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu studi literatur tentang sejarah, proses produksi, dan karakteristik kain tenun Donggala, serta teknik dan penggunaan crochet dalam desain tas. Tahap berikutnya adalah pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dengan pengrajin kain tenun Donggala, dan penelusuran desain tas dengan teknik crochet yang sudah ada. Tahap terakhir adalah proses pengembangan desain tas dengan mempertimbangkan keunikan kain tenun Donggala dan teknik crochet. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah desain tas wanita yang menggabungkan keindahan dan keunikan kain tenun Donggala dengan fleksibilitas dan estetika yang ditawarkan oleh teknik crochet. Tas ini dirancang dengan memperhatikan fungsi, ukuran, dan tata letak yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna. Selain itu, desain ini juga mencerminkan budaya dan warisan Sulawesi Tengah melalui motif dan corak khas kain tenun Donggala.

This research aims to develop the design of women's bags using Donggala handwoven fabric, a distinctive craft from Central Sulawesi, with the addition of crochet technique combination. This design combines the uniqueness of Donggala handwoven fabric, with its distinctive motifs and patterns, with the beauty and flexibility offered by the crochet technique. The research methodology consists of three stages, namely literature review on the history, production process, and characteristics of Donggala handwoven fabric, as well as the techniques and applications of crochet in bag design. The next stage involves data collection through observation, interviews with Donggala handwoven fabric artisans, and exploration of existing bag designs using crochet technique. The final stage is the process of developing bag designs, taking into consideration the uniqueness of Donggala handwoven fabric and crochet technique. The result of this research is a design of women's bags that combines the beauty and uniqueness of Donggala handwoven fabric with the flexibility and aesthetics offered by the crochet technique. The bags are designed with attention to function, size, and layout that meet user needs. Furthermore, the design also reflects the culture and heritage of Central Sulawesi through the distinctive motifs and patterns of Donggala handwoven fabric.
