Abstract
Pemilihan plastik sebagai bahan baku kemasan dinilai cocok dan efisien. Namun, penggunaan kemasan plastik telah meningkatkan polusi terhadap lingkungan. Dampak lingkungan yang dihasilkan dari penggunaan kemasan diantaranya yaitu global warming yang menyebabkan iklim dunia tidak menentu, sehingga terjadi peningkatan temperatur global dari tahun ke tahun karena efek rumah kaca. Dampak lingkungan lainnya dari penggunaan kemasan plastik yaitu microplastic. Kemasan makanan adalah kontributor terbesar terhadap polusi plastik global. Salah satu penggunaan kemasan makanan adalah untuk pengemasan daging. Tingkat konsumsi daging semakin meningkat menyebabkan penggunaan plastik juga mengalami peningkatan dan berdampak sehingga menjadi beban lingkungan. Dalam studi ini dilakukan penilaian dampak lingkungan yang diakibatkan oleh kemasan daging sapi di Surabaya dengan mempertimbangkan 4 faktor yaitu beraneka ragam jenis material kemasan, berbagai lokasi pembelian kemasan dan metode pembelian, metode penyimpanan dan perlakuan limbah terhadap kemasan. Pengukuran dampak lingkungan akan dilakukan dengan metode Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) dan menggunakan bantuan software SimaPro. Fungsional unit yang dipilih yaitu 1 kg daging sapi mentah. Batasan pada penelitian yaitu gate to grave. Metode penilaian dampak lingkungan menggunakan metode ReCipe 2016. Jenis kemasan diantaranya styrofoam dan plastic wrap, mika dan plastic wrap, plastik roll, plastik kresek putih bening, plastik kresek hitam dan plastik bening berwarna. Dampak lingkungan tertinggi pada kemasan yaitu styrofoam dan plastic wrap dengan dampak global warming mencapai 0.272 KgCO2eq dan hasil single score mencapai 11.273 mPt. Dampak lingkungan yang dihasilkan dipengaruhi oleh perilaku konsumen, diantaranya yaitu pemilihan lokasi pembelian, penggunaan transportasi oleh konsumen dan metode penyimpanan oleh konsumen.

The selection of plastic as packaging material is considered suitable and efficient. However, the use of plastic packaging has led to an increase in environmental pollution. The environmental impacts resulting from the use of packaging include global warming, causing unpredictable climate changes and a steady rise in global temperatures over the years due to the greenhouse effect. Another environmental impact of plastic packaging is microplastic pollution. Food packaging is the largest contributor to global plastic pollution. One significant use of food packaging is for meat packaging. The increasing meat consumption has led to a rise in plastic usage, becoming a burden on the environment. This study assesses the environmental impacts caused by beef packaging in Surabaya, considering four factors: the diversity of packaging materials, various packaging purchasing locations and methods, storage methods, and waste treatment of the packaging. The environmental impact will be measured using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method, with the assistance of SimaPro software. The selected functional unit is 1 kg of raw beef. The scope of the research is from "gate to grave." The environmental impact assessment method used is the ReCipe 2016 method. Types of packaging include styrofoam and plastic wrap, mica and plastic wrap, plastic roll, clear plastic bags, black plastic bags, and clear colored plastic bags. The highest environmental impact on the packaging is from styrofoam and plastic wrap, with a global warming impact of 0.272 KgCO2eq and a single score result of 11.273 mPt. The environmental impacts generated are influenced by consumer behavior, such as the choice of purchasing locations, transportation methods used by consumers, and storage methods employed by consumers.
