Abstract

PT Badak NGL menggunakan steam generator sebagai sumber utama untuk penyediaan energi. Selama beroperasi tahun 1999 sampai sekarang, beberapa kali ditemukan kerusakan yang terjadi pada bagian superheater tube khususnya di U-bend section. Untuk mengatasi kerusakan U-bend yang berulang, telah dilakukan upaya preventive maintenance oleh pihak PT Badak NGL berupa upgrade material pada U-bend superheater tube boiler 31F-28, tetapi masalah masih belum terpecahkan. Pada penelitian ini, masalah kerusakan pada U-bend superheater tube akan dievaluasi ulang dengan menggunakan metode Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA). RCFA digunakan untuk mencari penyebab terjadinya kerusakan serta memberikan solusi untuk pencegahannya agar masalah kerusakan U-Bend tube tidak berulang. Metode yang dilakukan adalah process analysis, mapping, and flowcharts serta metode why analysis. Hasil yang didapatkan pada penelitian ini adalah ditemukan penyebab kerusakan superheater tube diakibatkan oleh endapan deposit akibat terjadi water carry over yang menyebabkan overheating pada U-bend. Water carry over kemungkinan besar terjadi karena fungsi cyclone separator dan screen dryer yang kurang baik, sehingga direkomendasikan untuk sering dibersihkan dan dicek keausannya.

PT Badak NGL uses steam generators as the main source for energy supply. During its operation from 1999 until now, several times in the damage that occurs in the superheater tube, especially in the U-bend section. To overcome the damage that repeated U-bend, preventive maintenance efforts have been made by the PT Badak NGL in the form of upgraded materials on the U-bend tube boiler superheater 31F-28, but the problem still unsolved. In this study, the problem of damage to the U-bend superheater tube will be re-evaluated using the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA). RCFA used to find the cause of the damage and provide a solution to the problem in order to prevent damage to the U-Bend tube is not repeated. The method does is process analysis, mapping, and flowcharts and why analysis methods. The results obtained in this study were found to cause damage to the superheater tube caused by sediment deposits occurring as a result of water carry-over which causes overheating in the U-bend. Water carry-over likely to occur due to the function of a cyclone separator and screen dryer is not good, so it is recommended to frequently cleaned and checked.
