Abstract

In this research, synthesis of AI-MCM-41, Zr-MCM-41, and Zr-Al-MCM-41 materials have been studied with hydrothermal method. The resulting solids were characterized using XRD, FTIR, and pyridine-FTIR. The characterization results showed that the Al-MCM-4 1 and Zr-AI-MCM-41 had similiar structure to MCM-41 which may be seen from the fact that diffrraction peaks appeared at 28 = 2,42-2,56°; 4,06-4,25° and 4,75-4,78. Pyridine-FTIR analysis results showed that AJMCM- 4 I had Lewis acid site and combined of acid sites Lewis and Brensted, Zr-Al-MCM-41 had Bmnsted acid site beside the two acid sites. Zr-AI-MCM-41 with Si/(Zr+AI) = 25 showed highest acidity. Therefore, it may be concluded that the acidity of the resulting solids increased with increasing zirkonium ion content.
