Abstract

Kelangkaan Bahan Bakar Minyak (BBM) dan kenaikan harga BBM yang terjadi di Indonesia akibat melonjaknya harga minyak dunia, memicu pemerintah umuk mulai menggali sumber-sumber energi alternatif Sumber energi baru yang ramah lingkungan salah satunya adalah Biodiesel. Sumber bahan baku biodiesel yang sangat berpotensi adalah minyak biji jarak. Namun. pemerintah maupun industri kecil masih kesulitan cara mengeluarkan minyak Jarak dan bijinya. 0leh karena itu, perlu d1buat alat pengepress blji Jarak yang mampu mengeluarkan minyak secara maksimal (sebanyak-banyaknya). Dalam penelitian dan perancangan ini dibangun sistem pengepresan dengan mengintegrasikan kinerja antara single screw dan double screw. Selain itu juga dilakukan perancangan crusher untuk mengaduk biji jarak yang masih berada dalam hopper Hal ini dapat berfungsi sebagai pengepresan awal pada screw press. untuk mengeluarkan minyak biji jarak secara optimal ditambahkan komponen pemanas yang akan membantu dalam peluluhan minyak. Proses dilakukan sampai tiga kali pengepresan.Dari hasil perancangan didapatkan suatu alat pengepress biji jarak yang efisien serta mudah dalam pengoperasian dengan daya total yang dibutuhkan sebesar 3,237 kW Kapasitas alat yang diciptakan sebesar 50 kg biji Jarak/Jam. Dengan pembuatan mesin pengepress ini diharapkan dapat mengeluarkan minyak Jarak dari bijinya secara maksimal.

The price increase and scarcity of fuel oil in Indonesia caused by the mcrease of world oil pnce force the goverment to start seeking the alternative energy sources. One of them is biodiesel which is included in green energy. The jatropha curcas all is one of the most potential raw material of biodiesel production. Yet, the goverment and some small industries .still get some difficulities in how to seperate maximally the oil from the seed Therefore, it need to design a Jatropha curcas machine press as one of the way out.The Integrated pressing system with single screw and double screw has been constructed in this reasearch. The design of crusher to mix jatropha curcas seed m the hopper has also been made. It can function as pre-press of screw press system. A heater system has been added to make the oil diluted and easily seperated. The whole process consists of thrice.The experiment has acquired a good design of jatropha curcas screw machine which is efficently and easlly operated with power consumption of 3,237 kW and capacity of 50 kg jatropha seed/hour. By designing this machine, it is expected to separate the oil maximally .
