Abstract

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the world is faced with a prolonged conflict between Russia – Ukraine. Both of them are the largest wheat producers in the world, which has caused the supply of wheat from these two countries to experience price increases which have affected the production of wheat-based food and feed in several countries, including the UK. Some of the wheat is used as the main ingredient in chicken feed. The decline in the chicken population has resulted in a decrease in egg production which has led to restrictions on purchasing eggs in supermarkets. These efforts cannot be implemented continuously because the need for eggs increases in certain situations. Indonesia is one of the largest chicken egg producing countries in the world. However, the quality of Indonesian chicken eggs is below British egg standards. What Indonesia can offer is the export of additional feed which can increase chicken productivity. In Indonesia, there is potential for feed supplement exports of 328,274 tonnes per year and only 119,496 tonnes of exports have been realized. The volume of animal feed exports is relatively small, it is necessary to add superior commodities for export to the UK, palm oil, coffee, cocoa and shrimp. The aim of this Final Project is to determine the existing conditions of production and demand for feed and food in the UK and to determine the optimum transportation model for export activities of feed and food to the UK. Factors that need to be considered in this research is how to determine the location of the hub port using the transshipment problem method. The optimization results show that Singapore Port is selected as an international transit port and Tanjung Perak Port and Tanjung Priok Port as a domestic transit port. The results of shipping commodities tryptophan, palm oil, coffee, cacao, and shrimp using the CIF scheme are Rp 2.835 million, Rp 416 million, Rp 1.938 million, Rp 1.868 million, and Rp 2.483 million, respectively. On the other hand, using the FOB scheme, the results are Rp 2.706 million, Rp 294 million, Rp 1.805 million, Rp 1.732 million, and Rp 2.289 million, consecutively.
