Abstract

This research discusses the strength analysis of the TMC PPI train axle which uses EA4T construction steel material. The material has a yield strength of 420 MPa and an ultimate strength of 650 MPa. Based on the results of the analysis, the largest stress received by the axle occurs in section number 6, which is between the “running surfaces”, with a value of 150.56 MPa. The smallest safety factor value obtained was 1.6, found in section numbers 5, 6, and 7. These results show that the axle design meets the safety standards set by EN 13103, which requires a maximum permissible stress of 200 MPa and a minimum safety factor value of 1.33. Therefore, it can be concluded that the TMC PPI train axle design is safe to use under normal operational conditions without the risk of structural failure or fracture.
