Abstract

Gerakan Seribu Tangan Palsu is a collaborative effort among lecturers from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), focusing on innovations for people with disabilities. This development project involves ITS academic members and the broader community. The prosthetic products marketed by Gerakan Seribu Tangan Palsu program are still based on a linear economy (LE). Consequently, product donations end with the patients, and the products do not return to the manufacturers or distributors for repair, maintenance, or further development. This situation poses a risk of creating new waste sources if the products can no longer be used and are directly discarded by users. The research aims to optimize innovative products to strengthen the relationship between products and sustainable services, thus forming a circular economy (CE) through a product service system (PSS) business model by facilitating the understanding of product knowledge among all related parties. The method used is design thinking, divided into four stages. During the ideate stage, there is a process of preparing product design specifications as a reference for creating optimized products through the design thinking process. This design thinking is used to accelerate problem-solving processes. Practically, the research results focus on the reciprocal relationship of each variable, namely: product knowledge, product design specification, and product service system, to support the circular economy in Gerakan Seribu Tangan Palsu program with the PSS business model. Practically, the research produces a method for processing feedback, accelerating production, and a new business scheme involving circular interactions among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and users. Scientifically, the research results are shown through hypothesis testing with multiple linear regression and Pearson's correlation among variables. The results of these two methods indicate that the null hypothesis is accepted, and all the effects among these variables are considered very weak or weak. It is hoped that the results of this research can serve as a reference for business models in future donation programs, thereby forming a circular business movement that is environmentally conscious and can be continuously implemented as a routine program.
