Abstract

Stunted toddler are toddlers whose height is less than appropriate for their age. This condition is measured by calculating the height that is more than two standard deviations below the median growth standard established by WHO. According to the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey, the prevalence of stunting in Tuban Regency in 2022 was 24.9 percent, ranking it among the top 8 regions with the highest prevalence of stunted toddlers in East Java Province. The Tuban Regency Government is striving to reduce the stunting rate, one approach being the development of an intervention program. In order to develop this intervention program, it is necessary to identify the determinant factors of stunting. Several previous studies related to stunting have been conducted using various statistical methods, one of which is spatial regression. However, in those studies, the spatial modeling process only used the spatial influence on the dependent variable, resulting in suboptimal model performance. This study models the spatial area using the Spatial Durbin Model (SDM) with Queen Contiguity spatial weights. SDM is a spatial regression that incorporates the spatial influence of both dependent and independent variables in the model formulation process. The unit of observation in this study is the villages in Tuban Regency, totaling 328 villages. The determinants of stunting investigated in this study include pregnancy outcome factors, parenting factors, and access to health services factors. The results show that SDM performs better than the OLS and SAR regression methods based on the criteria of maximum R2 value and minimum AIC value. The significant independent variables are the percentage of babies with low birth weight, the percentage of toddlers who receive hepatitis B immunization, and the lag percentage of exclusive breastfeeding.
