Abstract

Trees play a crucial role as indicators of environmental changes, monitoring diseases, pests, ecosystem balance, and essential data sources such as trunk diameter, density height, and other parameters. The ITS Sukolilo Vocational Faculty area is surrounded by a Green Open Space (RTH) area with various types of trees that still need to be observed to assess their physical condition in order for them to effectively carry out their intended role. This study aimed to identify the types and levels of tree health in the ITS Sukolilo Vocational Faculty area as part of efforts to prevent fallen trees. Sample observations were conducted using the census method, analyzing all the trees in the area. The plants observed were tree habitus plants with a trunk diameter of >10 cm as measured at Diameter Breast Height (DBH) and a height of >130 cm. Tree health identification was done using the Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) method, which involved describing the physical damage to the trees, including the location, type, and severity of damage. The observations were used to calculate the tree's Damage Index Value (NIK), enabling their classification into four health categories: healthy, light damage, moderate damage, and heavy damage. The research findings revealed the presence of 147 trees in the ITS Vocational Faculty area representing 11 different species, with the majority classified in the healthy category and only one tree categorized as having light damage, predominantly ranging from 20-29%.
