Abstract

The rapid growth of the industrial sector in Indonesia demands continuous improvements in human resources and technological innovations. The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, through its Certified Internship and Independent Study (MSIB), offers students the opportunity to directly engage with the industry. PT PLN (Persero) PUSHARLIS UP2W V Semarang is a unit focused on the maintenance and production of power plant equipment, including the manufacturing of air preheaters (APH). The APH is a crucial component in coal-fired power plants (PLTU), serving as an initial air heater to optimize combustion within boilers. This internship aims to analyze the implementation of the Critical Path Method (CPM) in the manufacturing process of air preheaters at PT PLN (Persero) PUSHARLIS UP2W V. The CPM method is used to predict the total project duration by identifying the critical path, which is expected to improve production time efficiency and reduce idle time. The analysis involves project management-based scheduling to achieve effectiveness and efficiency in the production process. The application of CPM resulted in enhanced efficiency in the APH manufacturing process, particularly in terms of time management and resource allocation. These findings are expected to contribute to the performance improvement of PT PLN (Persero) PUSHARLIS in supporting the needs of Indonesia’s electricity industry. In conclusion, the CPM implementation successfully identified and optimized the critical path, ultimately boosting productivity and production capacity in the workshop.
