Abstract
Austenitik stainless steel telah banyak diaplikasikan karena memiliki sifat mekanik yang baik, tahan korosi, dan kemampuannya untuk beroperasi di temperatur tinggi. Akan tetapi, jika material ini terekspos pada temperatur kritis yang berkisar antara 450o C sampai 850oC, akan terjadi sensitisasi yang ditandai dengan adanya presipitasi karbida di batas butir. Presipitasi karbida menjadi penyebab timbulnya chromium-depleted zone pada mikrostruktur serta dapat mempengaruhi sifat mekanik dari material tersebut. Austentic stainless steel 316 telah dipilih sebagai material uji pada penelitian ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis pengatuh waktu pemanasan sensitisasi terhadap struktur mikro dan sifat mekanik stainless steel 316 pada temperatur 600ºC. Sampel dipanaskan sampai temperatur 600ºC lalu ditahan dengan variasi waktu 3, 5, dan 7 jam kemudian didinginkan secara lambat di udara. Perubahan struktur mikro akibat perlakuan panas diamati dengan menggunakan mikroskop optik sedangkan perubahan sifat mekanik dianalisis dengan melakukan pengujian mekanik seperti pengujian tarik dan kekerasan pada tiap sampel. Hasil pengamatan metalografi menunjukkan adanya perubahan struktur sebagai pengaruh dari waktu pemanasan sensitisasi yang diberikan pada sampel stainless steel 316 dimana ditemukan struktur step pada sampel tanpa perlakuan dan sampel yang diberikan waktu sensitisasi 3 jam serta struktur dual pada sampel dengan waktu sensitisasi 5 jam dan 7 jam. Pengujian mekanik menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perubahan nilai kekuatan, kekerasan, dan keuletan pada masing-masing sampel seiring dengan lamanya waktu sensitisasi. Nilai kekuatan tarik dari spesimen stainless steel 316 meningkat pada variasi waktu sensitisasi 3 jam dan 5 jam yaitu secara berturut-turut adalah sebesar 581.045 MPa, 604.72 MPa serta menurun pada waktu sensitisasi 7 jam yaitu sebesar 573.875 MPa. Nilai elongasi menurun pada variasi waktu sensitisasi 3 jam, 5 jam yaitu secara berturut-turut sebesar 44.22%, dan 43.95% serta meningkat pada waktu sensitisasi 7 jam yaitu sebesar 47.53%. Tingkat kekerasan sampel mengalami peningkatan dari sampel tanpa perlakuan dengan nilai 208.8 HV menjadi 224.7 HV pada waktu sensitisasi 7 jam.

Austenitic stainless steels have been widely applied because of their good mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and ability to operate at high temperatures. However, if this material is exposed to critical temperatures ranging from 450oC to 850 oC, sensitization will occur which is indicated by the presence of carbide precipitation at the grain boundaries. Carbide precipitation is the cause of the chromium-depleted zone in the microstructure and can affect the mechanical properties of the material. Austentic stainless steel 316 has been selected as the test material in this study. This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the effect of sensitization time on the microstructure and mechanical properties of stainless steel 316 at a temperature of 600ºC. The sample was heated to a temperature of 600ºC and then held for 3, 5, and 7 hours and then slowly cooled in air. Changes in microstructure due to heat treatment were observed using an optical microscope while changes in mechanical properties were analyzed by performing mechanical tests such as tensile and hardness tests on each sample. The results of metallographic observations showed that there was a change in structure as a result of the sensitization heating time given to the 316 stainless steel sample where a step structure was found in the as-received sample and the sample was given a sensitization time of 3 hours and a dual structure in the sample with a sensitization time of 5 hours and 7 hours. Mechanical testing showed that there was a change in the value of strength, hardness, and ductility in each sample along with the length of sensitization time. The tensile strength value of sample increased at 3 hours and 5 hours sensitization time variations, which were 581,045 MPa and 604.72 MPa and decreased at 7 hours sensitization time, which was 573,875 MPa. The elongation value decreased in the variation of the sensitization time of 3 hours, 5 hours, which was 44.22%, and 43.95%, respectively, and increased at 7 hours of sensitization, which was 47.53%. The hardness level of the sample increased from the as-received sample with a value of 208.8 HV to 224.7 HV at a sensitization time of 7 hours.
