Abstract
Pertumbuhan ekonomi yang seiring meningkat di Indonesia melibatkan meningkatnya kebutuhan transportasi muatan barang. Salah satu moda transportasi muatan barang masal adalah kereta api, kebutuhan transportasi muatan barang kereta api turut meningkat. Adanya peningkatan ini karena mempermudah pengiriman melalui jalur darat dan lebih hemat energi tingkat pencemaran rendah serta aman. Dalam proses produksi kereta api menggunakan salah satu proses yang melibatkan pengelasan. Metode penegelasan FCAW bisa digunakan pada gerbong kereta api. Bahan yang digunakan baja S355 J2. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan arus 170A, 190A, 200A dengan tegangan 26,5V dan 27,5V. Kemudian penelitian ini dilengkapi dengan pengujian uji tarik, kekerasan dan struktur mikro. Semakin naik nya arus dan tegangan mengalami penurunan jika dibandingkan dengan kenaikan tegangan dari 26.5V ke 27.5V. Pengaruh arus dan tegangan pengelasan memiliki pengaruh struktur mikro berupa transformasi ukuran butir di weld metal dan HAZ. Transformasi yang terjadi di weld metal dan HAZ lebih halus dari base metal. Dalam seluruh hasil variasi tidak ada transformasi fasa. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kenaikan tegangan mampu menurunkan nilai tegangan tarik dari base metal. Sifat mekanik kekerasan pada sample terbaik 200A, 26,5V mendapatkan transformasi nilai hardness tersebut dipengaruhi oleh temperatur sekitar pada fasa pendinginan. Pada daerah HAZ mendapatkan nilai 221.67 HV, base metal 202.00 HV dan pada weld metal mendapatkan nilai 221.33 HV. Pada sampel 200A dengan 26,5V mendapatkan hasil terbaik yaitu dengan nilai tensile strength 545.94 MPa dan yield strength 440.35 MPa, elongation 36.08%. Dikarenakan variasi arus dan tegangan mendapatkan nilai yang optimum pada variasi 200A, 26,5V karena sifat mekaniknya mendekati nilai ideal base metal dan untuk kekerasan mendapatkan nilai yang memadai

Economic growth that has increased in Indonesia involves the increasing need for transportation of goods. One of the modes of transportation of mass cargo is trains, the need for transportation of rail freight loads has also increased. This increase is because it makes shipping easier by land and is more energy efficient at low pollution levels and is safe. In the process of railway production using one of the processes involving welding. The FCAW sealing method can be used on rail cars. The material used steel S355 J2. This study was conducted using currents of 170A, 190A, 200A with voltages of 26.5V and 27.5V. Then the study is complemented by testing of tensile, hardness and microstructure tests. The increasing current and voltage decrease when compared to the increase in voltage from 26.5V to 27.5V. The influence of welding current and voltage has a microstructure influence in the form of changes in grain size in metal and HAZ welds. The changes that occur in weld metal and HAZ are finer than base metal. In the whole result of the variation there is no phase change. So it can be concluded that the increase in voltage is able to lower the tensile stress value of the base metal. Whenthe mechanical hardness in the best sample 200A, 26.5V gets a change in the hardness value influenced by the ambient temperature in the cooling phase. In the HAZ area, it gets a value of 221.67 HV, the base metal is 202.00 HV and in the weld metal it gets a value of 221.33 HV. Pis up tol 200A with 26.5V getting the best results, namely with a tensile strength value of 545.94 MPa and a yield strength of 440.35 MPa, elongation of 36.08%. Because the variation in current and voltage gets the optimum value at variations of 200A, 26.5V because its mechanical properties are close to the ideal value of base metal and for hardness obtain adequate values.
