Abstract

Public facilities and infrastructure development in Surabaya will change the environmental structure, so there are many things that must be considered. One of them is the location of subsurface objects such as gas pipes, electrical cable lines, and also water pipes. Lack of pipeline management and mapping can cause underground pipelines to be damaged during excavation. The subsurface water pipe is one of the most important things to support people's needs. Knowing the location of these pipes is important for government agencies in carrying out maintenance, pipeline development and repair activities. Identification of the subsurface water pipeline is carried out using the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) method. Because it is non-destructive and very well applied in investigating infrastructure buried underground that has a dielectric constant contrast with the surrounding soil. This research was conducted around Surabaya Zoo and Joyoboyo Terminal. Data acquisition was carried out with the GPR GSSI with antenna frequency of 270 MHz on 21 measurement lines (JB07 to JB27). The aim is to determine the location, depth and structure of the subsurface water pipeline at the research location. The measurement data were processed using MatGPR R-3.1 and SketchUp Pro 2021 software by adjusting signal position, dc removal, dewowing, median filter, inverse amplitude decay, background removal, K-L filter, bandpass filter and time to depth conversion. 2-D and 2,5-D modeling conducted to visualize the water pipeline. Hyperbolic anomaly which is suspected to be a water pipe is detected from the presence of strong amplitude at a depth of 1 – 2 meters which is seen in almost every line with velocity values from 0,0609 – 0,113 m/ns and dielectric constant value of 7,05 – 24,27. From the 2,5-D modeling, it is known that the water pipeline continues from the south (Kalimas River) to the north of the research location.
