Abstract
Laporan magang ini membahas analisis pengaruh proses Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) terhadap perubahan dimensi pada material Primary Screen yang digunakan dalam proyek PT. Metso di bawah pengawasan PT. PAL Indonesia. Proyek ini dilaksanakan di Divisi Rekayasa Umum selama 4 bulan dengan cakupan aktivitas meliputi proses manufaktur seperti pemotongan, pengelasan, pengujian non-destruktif (NDT), serta dokumentasi teknis. Proses PWHT diterapkan untuk mengurangi tegangan sisa akibat pengelasan dan meningkatkan stabilitas dimensi komponen. Observasi dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan panas untuk menilai pengaruhnya terhadap dimensi aktual material. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa PWHT secara signifikan dapat mengurangi deformasi dan penyimpangan dimensi yang terjadi setelah proses pengelasan, serta meningkatkan kestabilan geometris komponen Primary Screen. Dengan demikian, proses PWHT terbukti penting dalam menjamin kualitas produk manufaktur yang presisi, terutama pada aplikasi industri berat seperti pertambangan dan energi.

This internship report discusses the analysis of dimensional changes after the Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) process on Primary Screen materials used in a project by PT. Metso, conducted under the supervision of PT. PAL Indonesia. The internship was carried out in the General Engineering Division over a period of four months, covering various manufacturing activities such as cutting, welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), and technical documentation. PWHT was applied to relieve residual stresses caused by welding and to improve dimensional stability of the components. Observations were conducted before and after the heat treatment to assess its impact on the actual dimensions of the material. The results indicate that PWHT significantly reduces deformation and dimensional deviations that occur post-welding, enhancing the geometric stability of the Primary Screen components. Therefore, PWHT is proven to be essential in ensuring the quality of precision-manufactured products, particularly for applications in heavy industries such as mining and energy.
