Abstract
Dextrin adalah kelompok karbohidrat dengan berat molekul rendah yang dihasilkan melalui hidrolisis pati. Dextrin bersifat mudah larut dalam air, biodegradable, tidak berbau, tidak beracun, dan memiliki daya rekat tinggi. Dextrin telah banyak digunakan dalam berbagai industri. Dextrin digunakan dalam industri pagan sebagai pengental dan penstabi, serta pada industri nonpangan seperti perekat, tekstil, dan farmasi. Di Indonesia, kebutuhan dextrin masih belum sepenuhnya dapat dipenuhi oleh produksi dalam negeri sehingga masih bergantung pada impor. Oleh karena itu, perancangan pabrik dextrin dengan kapasitas 25.000 ton per tahun memiliki potensi yang menguntungkan karena tingginya permintaan dan minimnya persaingan di dalam negeri. Pabrik ini direncanakan beroperasi pada tahun 2031 di Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (KITB), Kecamatan Gringsing, Kabupaten Batang, Jawa Tengah, dan ditargetkan akan beroperasi pada tahun 2031. Produksi dextrin terdiri dari unit ekstraksi pati dan unit hidrolisis pati menjadi dextrin. Ekstraksi pati meliputi pencucian, pengupasan, penghancuran, pencampuran, dan pemisahan menggunakan decanter centrifuge. Slurry pati selanjutnya dipanaskan, digelatinisasi, dilakukan penyesuaian pH dengan NaOH, dan dihidrolisis secara enzimatis menggunakan α-amilase pada stirred tank reactor. dextrin kemudian didinginkan, difiltrasi menggunakan spiral wound membrane, dilakukan pertukaran ion dengan cation exchanger, dikonsentrasikan pada falling film evaporator, dan dikeringkan menggunakan spray dryer hingga diperoleh dextrin food grade dengan kadar air <5%. Berdasarkan anilisis ekonomi, diperoleh nilai IRR sebesar 15,82% sehingga pabrik layak didirikan dengan nilai di atas bunga pinjam dan Pay Out Time selama 3,8 tahun yang relatif cepat.

Dextrin is a group of low-molecular-weight carbohydrates produced through starch hydrolysis. It is readily soluble in water, biodegradable, odorless, non-toxic, and possesses strong adhesive properties. Dextrin has been widely used in various industries, including the food industry as a thickener and stabilizer, as well as in non-food industries such as adhesives, textiles, and pharmaceuticals. In Indonesia, domestic dextrin production has not yet been able to meet market demand, resulting in continued dependence on imports. Therefore, the design of a dextrin plant with a production capacity of 25,000 tons per year has strong potential due to high demand and limited domestic competition. The plant is planned to be established in 2031 at the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB), Gringsing District, Batang Regency, Central Java, and is expected to commence operations in the same year. The production process consists of a starch extraction unit and a starch hydrolysis unit. Starch extraction includes washing, peeling, size reduction, mixing, and separation using a decanter centrifuge. The resulting starch slurry is heated, gelatinized, adjusted to the required pH using NaOH, and enzymatically hydrolyzed with α-amylase in a stirred tank reactor. The resulting dextrin solution is subsequently cooled, filtered using a cation exchanger, concentrated in a falling film evaporator, and dried using a spray dryer to produce food-grade dextrin powder with a final moisture content of less than 5%. Based on the economic analysis, the project achieves an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 15.82%, indicating that the proposed plant is economically feasible because the IRR exceeds the loan interest rate and the investment has a relatively short payback period of 3.7 years.
