Abstract
Textile waste generated by Indonesia in 2023 amounted to 2.3 million tons but is only recycled to about 13%. The majority of such waste is a result of fast fashion trends, whereas the population continues throwing away damaged clothing without considering the potential negative effects in the future. This research focuses on analyzing how residents in Java see textile waste and recycled products and what motivates them to purchase sustainable fashion goods. The central issue here is poor consumer awareness regarding the problem and unwillingness to spend more money for such products. The study implements a quantitative research approach and gathers data using online questionnaires among 296 participants located in the Java region. The study involves measuring various factors like emotion to design, usefulness of products, values of consumers, their income, word of mouth, and purchasing power using the theory of planned behaviour as the grand theory. The study uses a statistical method known as PLS SEM to find out how all the measured variables affect consumer attitude toward the product, their decision-making process, and ultimately the purchasing intentions. The outcome of the research is ascription of responsibility and attitude are the foundation of consumer purchasing intention. Meanwhile, subjective norm isn’t supported in this research
