Abstract

Pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) di Sekolah Dasar menuntut adanya pengalaman belajar yang konkret agar peserta didik mampu memahami konsep-konsep sains secara detail. Salah satu materi IPA kelas 5 SD yang memerlukan dukungan media pembelajaran adalah keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia, karena materi ini menuntut kemampuan observasi, visualisasi, serta pengelompokan makhluk hidup berdasarkan karakteristik dan wilayah persebarannya. Namun, pada praktiknya pembelajaran masih bersifat verbal, sehingga pemahaman siswa terhadap keanekaragaman hayati belum optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang alat peraga edukasi keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia yang sesuai dengan karakteristik materi dan kebutuhan siswa kelas 5 SD. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah perancangan media pembelajaran yang meliputi tahap awal analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, dan evaluasi awal terhadap kesesuaian materi. Hasil penelitian diharapkan menghasilkan alat peraga edukasi yang mampu memvisualisasikan konsep keanekaragaman flora dan fauna Indonesia secara konkret, menarik, dan mudah dipahami. Dengan demikian, alat peraga yang dirancang dapat menjadi alternatif media pembelajaran IPA yang mendukung keterlibatan aktif siswa serta meningkatkan pemahaman konsep keanekaragaman hayati di SD.

Science learning in elementary schools requires concrete learning experiences to help students understand scientific concepts clearly. One of the science topics in Fifth-Grade elementary school that requires appropriate learning media is Indonesian biodiversity, as this material involves observation, visualization, and classification of living organisms based on their characteristics and distribution areas. However, learning activities are still mainly focused on textbooks and verbal explanations, which results in students having difficulty understanding biodiversity concepts. This study aims to design an educational teaching aid on Indonesian biodiversity that is suitable for the characteristics of the material and the needs of Fifth-Grade elementary school students. The research method used is instructional media design, which includes needs analysis, design, and initial evaluation of material suitability. The results of this study are expected to produce an educational teaching aid that can present Indonesian flora and fauna biodiversity concepts in a concrete, interesting, and easy-to-understand way. Therefore, the designed teaching aid is expected to become an alternative science learning medium that supports active student participation and improves students’ understanding of biodiversity concepts in elementary schools.
