Abstract

The Siwalankerto Flyover Project in Surabaya is part of the Waru–Juanda Airport Interchange Toll Road Project. The flyover passes through two areas, namely the Siwalankerto residential area and Makarya Binangun Housing Complex. Both areas are affected by the project’s implementation and were therefore selected as the research locations to identify the negative impacts and their consequences. This study aims to determine the most significant negative impacts of the Siwalankerto Flyover Project on the community and the environment, as well as to compare the effects of these impacts in the two areas using a t-test analysis. The results indicate that within a radius of 0–25 meters, the most significant negative impact in Siwalankerto is drainage blockage, whereas in Makarya it is air pollution affecting property. Within a radius of 26–50 meters, the most significant impact in Siwalankerto is noise causing sleep disturbances, while in Makarya it is vibration. Within a radius of 51–75 meters, vibration is the most significant impact in Siwalankerto, whereas health problems caused by air pollution are the most significant in Makarya. Meanwhile, at a radius of more than 76 meters, the most significant impact in Siwalankerto is public protest, while in Makarya it is social tension among residents. The t-test results indicate that there are significant differences in the effects of various negative impacts between the two research areas.
