Abstract
lamanya perendaman, dimana didapatkan kuat tarik variasi suhu 30 °C selama 12 jam
sebesar 106,485 MPa, selama 24 jam sebesar 111,467 MPa, dan selama 48 jam sebesar
120,952 MPa, berikut kuat tekuknya secara berurutan sebesar 82,682 MPa; 88,948 MPa;
minyak pelumas.

Nowadays, the availability of wood in Indonesia as a raw material for fishing ship
manufacture is difficult to obtain. Wood availability problems can be overcome with the use
of laminated bamboo as a material for fishing ship construction. The condition of fishing
ship engine room which is susceptible to fuel and lubricant oil spills affects the mechanical
properties of laminated bamboo. This research aims to know the effect of fuel and lubricant
oil spills against mechanical properties of laminated bamboo. Tensile test and flexure test
performed on laminated bamboo speciments based on ASTM D3500 and ASTM D3043
standards. Speciments soaked in fuel (biosolar) and lubricant oil (SAE 40). Fuel soaking is
carried out at room temperature, while lubricant oil soaking is carried out within variations
of temperature of 30 °C, 50 °C, and 100 °C. Fuel and lubricant oil soaking are carried out
during 12 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours. Based on the test results, mechanical properties of
laminated bamboo speciments soaked in fuel decreased along with the soaking duration,
where obtained tensile strength of variation of 12 hours is 121.070 MPa, variation of 24
hours is 105.802 MPa, and variation of 48 hours is 97.909 MPa, following their flexure
strength in consecutive are 98.470 MPa, 82.033 MPa, and 75.093 MPa. In contrast to fuel,
mechanical properties of laminated bamboo speciments soaked in lubricant oil increased
along with the increment of soaking temperature and duration, where obtained tensile
strength of variation of 30 °C during 12 hours is 106.485 MPa, during 24 hours is 111.467
MPa, during 48 hours is 120.952 MPa, following their flexure strength in consecutive are
82.682 MPa, 88.948 Mpa, and 102.298 MPa. The lowest tensile strength and flexure
strength from the entire test results are 97.909 MPa and 75.093 MPa. Based on BKI 2013
edition regarding Small Vessels up to 24 meters regulation, laminated bamboo is still comply
used as a material for fishing ships construction, especially in the area of engine room which
is susceptible to fuel and lubricant oil spills.
