Abstract

Polimerisasi emulsi PVAc dari PVA dan VAM menggunakan metode semibatch telah dipelajari. PVAc disintesis menggunakan pelarut DMSO dengan variasi penambahan montmorillonite 1%, 2%, dan 3%. Hasil analisis menggunakan spektroskopi FTIR menunjukkan adanya kemiripan gugus fungsi antara PVAc solvent based dengan PVAc hasil sintesis. Karakterisasi menggunakan Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) menunjukkan PVAc solvent based memiliki dekomposisi termal lebih baik dibandingkan PVAc hasil sintesis, yaitu 76,16% pada suhu 280-380°C dan 22,37% pada suhu 400-500°C. ================================================================================================================== PVAc emulsion polymerizations from PVA and VAM through semibatch method have been studied. The polymerization used DMSO as solvent with montmorillonite filler of 1%, 2%, and 3% addition. The results of analysis using FTIR spectorcopy show that industrial, solvent based PVAc has similar functional group with the PVAc synthesized. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) characterization shows that industrial, solvent based PVAc has the best thermal decomposition than the other PVAc synthesized, which is 76,16% at temperature of 280-380°C and 22,37% at temperature of 400-500°C.
