Abstract

Ngipik landfill uses an Open Dumping system where the system will cause environmental pollution, one of them is through toxic leachate generated from waste. Research has been conducted to determine the toxic leachate distribution pattern using VLF-EM method which measured at two different seasons to know the differentiation of the distribution pattern and also a laboratory based resistivity test, quality of water, mapping ground water has been conducted after that, to interprete the overall distribution. From the results of the field research and laboratory based resistivity test, it is obtained that resistivity of the area that contains toxic leachate in landfill is about 0.3-2.5 Ωm. Results the difference of toxic leachate distribution pattern in the dry season is not too significant compared to the rainy season, there is only a low resistivity anomaly that spread out more in the dry season. Toxic leachate has spread out in the landfill area, however when the fluid flows deeper to the subsurface area in Ngipik landfill for about 2-3 m deep, fluid flow changes from south to north in the subsurface area.
