Abstract

Sampah plastik merupakan salah satu masalah terbesar yang terjadi baik di dunia maupun di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya pengolahan sampah plastik agar permasalahan yang ada dapat diselesaikan. Pada penelitian ini dibuat komposit berbasis termoplastik yang memanfaatkan sampah plastik berupa LDPE, styrofoam dan melamin yang kemudian diaplikasikan sebagai material konstruksi. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan 10 variasi komposisi. Dari hasil SEM didapat bahwa penambahan jumlah LDPE dan styrofoam menyebabkan berkurangnya nilai porositas. Hasil uji densitas didapat nilai densitas terbesar pada spesimen 4 (tanpa styrofoam) sebesar 1.211 g/cm3. Hasil uji absorbability didapat nilai terendah pada spesimen 5 (dengan penambahan styrofoam) sebesar 4.2%. Hasil uji bending menunjukkan kekuatan bending tertinggi dicapai oleh spesimen 5 (dengaan penambahan styrofoam) sebesar 115.3 MPa dan hasil Kekuatan tekan tertinggi dicapai oleh spesimen 4 (dengan penambahan styrofoam) sebesar 13.72 MPa. ===================================================================================================== Plastic waste is one of the biggest problems that occur not only in the world but also in Indonesia. Therefore, the need for plastic waste management so the problem can be solved. In this research, thermoplastic - based composites are made using LDPE plastic waste , styrofoam and melamine which are then applied as construction materials. In th is study used 10 variations of composition. From the SEM results test obtained the number of LDPE and styrofoam addition causes a decrease in number of porosity. The density test results were obtained from the largest density in specimen 4 (without styrofo am) of 1.211 g / cm 3 . The absorb ability test results were obtained in specimen 5 (with the addition of styrofoam) of 4.2%. The bending test results showed the highest bending strength by specimen 5 ( with the addition of styrofoam ) of 115.3MPa and highest of compressive strength by specimen 4 ( with the addition of styrofoam ) of 13.72 MPa.
