Abstract

Harga bahan baku plastik semakin hari semakin naik akibat meningkatnya kebutuhan akan produk plastik. Usaha untuk mencari material alternatif terus dilakukan, misalnya dengan mencampur material plastik dengan serat alam atau material organic lainnya, seperti sekam padi, serat sisal, dan lain sebagainya. Sejalan dengan proses pembuatan produk plastik dengan mesin injeksi, maka setiap material plastik yang digunakan harus diketahui sifat penyusutannya (shrinkage), demikian pula dengan material alternatif plastik. Pada penelitian tugas akhir ini akan meneliti tentang nilai penyusutan dari material biokomposit sesuai dengan standar ASTM D955. Tahapan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini diawali dengan melakukan studi literature mempelajari tentang sifat mampu cetak khususnya shrinkage dan studi lapangan tentang cara kerja mesin. Kemudian membuat model 3D specimen untuk disimulasikan menggunakan moldflow. Material yang digunakan adalah biokomposit dimana tidak terdapat pada database material di moldflow yang mengharuskan untuk membuat database material baru. Lokasi injeksi dipilih berdasarkan hasil simulasi dan parameter prosesnya yang kemudian digunakan untuk mensimulasikan nilai shrinkage specimen uji tersebut. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji coba proses injeksi di mesin injeksi moulding HAITIAN MA 900/260e. Sesuai dengan ASTM D955 dilakukan pengukuran specimen dan perhitungan nilai shrinkage material. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan setting parameter injeksi nozzle temperature sebesar 195oC, barel temperature sebesar 210oC, injection time sebesar 2 detik, injection pressure sebesar 60 bar, holding pressure sebesar 30 bar, dan holding time sebesar 10 detik. Nilai shrinkage biokomposit campuran PP dan sekam padi berdasarkan arah datangnya aliran plastik dari searah dan tegak lurus berturut – turut sebesar 1.5% dan 1.65%. Nilai shrinkage biokomposit campuran PP dan serat sisal berdasarkan arah datangnya aliran plastik dari searah dan tegak lurus berturut – turut sebesar 1.06% dan 1.30%. Nilai shrinkage PP murni berdasarkan arah datangnya aliran plastik dari searah dan tegak lurus berturut – turut sebesar 1.33% dan 1.49%. ================== The price of plastic raw materials increasingly rises due to the increasing demand of plastic products. The efforts to find alternative materials still continue, for example mixing plastic materials with natural fibers or other organic materials, such as rice husk, sisal fiber, etc. When making plastic products with injection machines, shrinkage property of the used plastic should be analyzed. The nature of the shrinkage is one of the properties in the injection main process. This final project aim to examine the percentage of shrinkage of biocomposite material based on ASTM D955 standard. Stages performed in this study begins with a study of literature to learn about the material behaviour during injection process, especially shrinkage and field studies on how the machine works. Then to create 3D models of test specimens to be simulated using moldflow. The material used is a biocomposite where there is no material database in moldflow. It requires to create a new material database. The location of the injection was chosen based on the simulation results and the process parameters then used to simulate the shrinkage percentage of the test specimen. Furthermore, experiments in injection molding machine HAITIAN MA 900 / 260e was carried out. Based on ASTM D955 specimen measurement and shrinkage percentage calculation of the test material was performed. From this final project, the parameter setting of injection nozzle temperature is 195oC, barrel temperature is 210oC, injection time is 2 second, injection pressure 60 bar, holding pressure 30 bar and holding time is 10 seconds. The percentage of mixture biocomposite shrinkage of PP and rice husk based on the direction of the coming of plastic stream from one direction and perpendicular are 1.5% and 1.65% respectively. The percentage of mixture biocomposite shrinkage of PP and sisal fiber based on the direction of flow of plastic from one direction and perpendicular are 1.06% and 1.30%, respectively. The percentage of shrinkage for PP based on the direction of plastic flow from one direction and perpendicular are 1.33% and 1.49% respectively.
