Abstract
Perkembangan anak usia dini merupakan masa yang penting untuk melatih kemampuan motorik. Oleh karena itu anak harus senantiasa diajak bermain agar dapat melatih kemampuan motoriknya sembari menyalurkan energi berlebih yang ada pada dirinya, salah satu caranya dengan bermain menggunakan sarana bermain seperti jungkat-jungkit, perosotan, kuda-kudaan dan lain sebagainya. Namun untuk itu, orang tua perlu menyediakan berbagai jenis permainan sehingga menimbulkan kendala tempat penyimpanan yang terbatas. Hal inilah yang menjadi latar belakang perancangan desain sarana bermain modular berbasis rotan. Konsep modular mampu membuat produk sarana bermain yang dapat diubah menjadi berbagai jenis tanpa memakan area yang luas. Indonesia merupakan negara dengan potensi sumber daya alam rotan yang besar namun kurang dalam pengembangan desain. Tujuan Tugas Akhir ini adalah untuk mengembangkan sarana bermain berbasis rotan dengan sistem modular yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan anak. Proses desain dimulai dengan mengumpulkan data produk eksisting, eksplorasi material, prototyping dan usability testing. Hasil eksplorasi ini berupa mainan rotan modular yang dapat dikonfigurasikan menjadi beberapa jenis mainan.

Early childhood development is an important time to practice motor skills. Therefore, they must always be invited to play in order to train his motor skills, one of the way is by playing using the means of playing like a teeter-totter, slider, rocking horse and so forth. But to train the overall motor skills, parents as a companion at home must provide various types of games which make the storage area of the playing field becomes restricted. This is the background design of modular play facilities based on rattan. The modular concept is able to create playing product that can be transformed into various types without consuming large areas. Rattan material was chosen because Indonesia is a country with a large potential of rattan natural resources but lacks design development, so the domestic rattan industry is become underdeveloped. The purpose of this Final Project is to develop a rattan-based play facility with a modular system that suits the needs of the child. The design process begins with collecting existing product data, material exploration, prototyping and usability testing. The results of this exploration are modular rattan toys that can be configured into several types of toys.
