Abstract

============================================================================================== The utilization of hydrogen as a source of energy technologies in vehicle fuel cells still have a problem especially in the storage of hydrogen. Zeolite Templated Carbon (ZTC) activated K2CO3 is a material with high porosity and large surface area. Results of hydrogen adsoption capacity at 30 °C, 40 °C, and 50 °C were 3.206, 2.885, and 2.458 %w, respectively. The amount of hydrogen adsorption capacity was affected by adsorption temperature. The increase of adsoption temperature, the decrease hydrogen adsorption. The highest hydrogen adsorption capacity was obtained 3.821%w at 30°C and pressure of 3 bar. Model isotherm adsorption results indicated that Langmuir model provided the best fit for the equilibrium data. In the other hand, based on the characterization results of XRD, SEM and N2 adsorption-desorption indicated a heterogeneous surface adsorbate corresponding Freundlich models. Thermodynamics parameters showed that adsorption process was exothermic as confirmed by the enthalpy (ΔH°) of -18.610 kJ/mol. Adsorption process followed the principles of physisorption because ΔH° values less than 80 kJ/mol. Adsorption through spontaneously confirmed by free energy change (ΔG°) of (-2.054, -1.058 dan -0.961 kJ/mol). The entropy change (ΔS°) was positive that indicated weak of enthropy gas-solid surface during adsoprtion process.
