Abstract
Kawasan wisata Pantai Timang yang berada di Kabupaten Gunungkidul ternyata belum dikelola dengan baik sesuai prinsip berkelanjutan. Dari aspek ekonomi, tidak semua
masyarakat setempat memiliki kesempatan kerja yang sama.
Selain itu, kondisi SDM masyarakatnya juga tergolong rendah dengan tingkat pendidikan terakhir SMP. Sedangkan, dari aspek lingkungan terdapat bangunan yang berada di pinggir tebing pantai yang terlihat kurang teratur serta dari aspek kelembagaannya, pengelola yang terlibat belum terkoordinir secara terstruktur sehingga menimbulkan konflik internal. Apabila hal tersebut diabaikan, maka akan mempengaruhi keberlanjutan pengembangan wisata Pantai Timang kedepannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan strategi pengelolaan berkelanjutan pada kawasan wisata Pantai Timang. Tahap awal dalam penelitian ini yaitu mengidentifikasi karakteristik pengelolaan berkelanjutan kawasan wisata Pantai Timang yang dilakukan melalui indepth interview. Tahap kedua adalah menentukan faktor prioritas pengelolaan berkelanjutan pada kawasan wisata Pantai Timang dengan teknik analisis Analythical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Hasil dari analisis tahap pertama dan kedua berupa perumusan strategi pengelolaan
berkelanjutan kawasan wisata Pantai Timang yang dicapai
dengan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa salah satu
strategi prioritas yang harus diutamakan dari keempat faktor yang ada adalah faktor kelembagaan melalui upaya peningkatan pemahaman sadar wisata secara berkelanjutan kepada masyarakat yang terlibat agar mengetahui peran dan fungsi kelompok sadar wisata yang semestinya.

Timang Beach tourism area located in Gunungkidul Regency is not managed properly according to the principle of
sustainability. From the economic aspect, not all local
communities have same employment opportunity. In addition, the human resource condition of the community is also relatively low with the last education level is Junior High School. Meanwhile, from the environmental aspect there is building located on the edge of the beach cliff which looks less regular and from the institutional
aspect, the manager involved is not coordinated in a structured manner causing internal conflict. If it is ignored, it will affect the sustainability of future Timang Beach tourism development. This research aims to formulate sustainable management strategy at the Timang Beach tourism area. The initial stage in this research is to identify the characteristics of sustainable management of the Timang Beach tourism area conducted by indepth interview. The second stage is to determine the priority factor of sustainable management at the Timang Beach tourism area with the analysis technique of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results of the first and second stage analysis are the formulation of sustainable management strategy of the Timang Beach tourism area which is achieved by qualitative descriptive analysis technique. The results of this research indicate that one of priority strategies that has to be prioritized from the four existing factors is the institutional factor through efforts to increase the conscious understanding of tourism sustainably to the community involved in
order to know the role and function of the conscious group of tourism that should be.
